There is no "strategic" alliance between Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki and his elections' rival, former PM Ayad Allawi, said a Kurdish MP.
Mahmoud Osman's statement came in response to reports which allege following the long political crisis in the country, the political positions have changed "radically" and "unexpected" alliances will be created.

Reports said that the PM is currently involved in talks of alliance with Allawi and the Islamic Supreme Council of Iraq (ISCI).

Osman of the Kurdistan Blocs Coalition (KBC) said the talks over the "strategic" alliance between Maliki and Allawi are "only media reports not more and are unlikely to be enforced.

"The political process in Iraq is frozen and now there is not a glimmer of hope for breaking through the crisis."

Commenting on the content of the reform package of the National Coalition (NA), Osman said the content of the package is yet to be completed and announced.

The NA which reinstated Maliki for the second term promised to offer a reform package to overcome the crisis.

The package was promised after efforts to hold a national conference on the level of the political leaders failed and efforts to withdraw confidence from Maliki by KBC, Allawi's Iraqiya List and the Sadr Current of the NA intensified.

After the attempt to withdraw confidence failed, the Sadrist withdrew and KBC and Iraqiya MPs began preparing files to investigate the PM inside the House of Representatives over "constitutional violations."
