North Korean Leader Kim Jong-Un Gets Married‎
North Korean state media has confirmed the leader of the world's most reclusive nation has got married.

It ends several weeks of speculation about a mystery woman who has appeared at Kim Jong-Un's side.

In a country which has traditionally shied away from details over its dictators' private lives, there was a short statement which confirmed the news.

It announced that Mr Kim had toured an amusement park with his "wife, comrade Ri Sol-Ju while a crowd cheered for the leader", without giving any more details including how long they have been married.

A mystery woman has featured on state television several times in recent weeks, including at a bizarre concert featuring Mickey Mouse and other Disney characters.

It is seven months since Kim Jong-Un inherited the leadership of North Korea from his father Kim Jong-Il.

Kim's public appearances with the woman are a striking change from his father's style.

Kim Jong-Il's 17-year rule was known for its secrecy. His companions and his children were not mentioned by state media, including Kim Jong-Un, who was virtually unknown before his formal introduction to the world in late 2010.

The new leader's style is considered more similar to his grandfather, North Korea founder Kim Il-Sung, who built homes, parks and schools and was often shown alongside his wife Kim Jong-Suk and with children in his arms.

The announcement that Kim Jong-Un is married may be a further step in the process of establishing his authority and follows a recent high-profile military reshuffle in which he announced himself as the new Marshall of the armed forces.

Ms Ri is thought to be the same "mystery woman" who accompanied Mr Kim in recent weeks, although South Korean media had previously speculated that the woman was another North Korean singer called Hyon Song-Wol.

The speculation about Kim Jong-Un's private life has coincided with high tension on the Korean Peninsula following a North Korean long-range rocket launch in April and repeated threats by Pyongyang to attack the South.
