Iraq needs to build services rather than buy heavy weapons, says Taifur
The second deputy of the Iraqi parliament speaker said Iraq needs to build and provide public services rather than buy heavy weapons.
In a press conference Arf Taifur commented on the visit of Iraq's Defense Minister Sadoun al-Dlemi to Russia to buy heavy weapons, according to a statement from Iraq’s House of Representatives.

Taifur expressed his surprise at the timing of the visit because Iraq is witnessing sensitive and political problems.

The official added that some parties might exploit this issue for political purposes and this could destabilize the situation further.

He confirmed that Iraq needs construction and to be rebuilt again. He said the government must concentrate on providing more services and lift the burden on Iraqis by solving the electricity problem, unemployment and looking after those affected by wars and terrorist attacks.
