Animal census to begin after Ramadan Eid in Kurdistan Region
The Kurdistan Regional Government's Ministry of Agriculture and Water Resources said the animal census will began after Ramadan Eid.

Manga AzhallDirector of animal resources Ramazan Karim said: "The Kurdistan Region in cooperation with the Iraqi Agriculture Ministry will begin the animal census in the region. The test will start in Duhok province first.

"A committee from the Iraqi Agriculture Ministry will visit the region today to open a course for 23 staff members about the census, which will be implemented electronically.”

Karim added: "The animals will be ear-tagged in the census process to know how many animals are slaughtered. Also you may receive information about the amount of fodder that has been used and the number of vaccines."

Karim explained that the census is important and the region can benefit from it to control animal imports and exports. The census will provide information to avoid animal smuggling in the region.

Some 17bn IQD were allocated to implement the project.

Karim said earlier that an animal census began on July 8 in Karbala in Iraq to gather accurate data about animals in the country.
