A security source in Diyala said on Monday, that unknown persons blew up two towers for transmitting electric power on the outskirts of Al-Salam district, northeast of Baquba.

The source said that unknown persons detonated, with explosive devices, two towers for transmitting electric power in the village of Al-Wandiya Al-Kabira, south of Al-Salam district (35 km northeast of Baqubah).

The source added that the two towers were severely damaged, which caused a power outage in large areas.

The energy towers in Diyala and the other provinces are subjected to continuous attacks, often carried out by ISIS elements or sabotage parties for material motives.
