Zakho Security: PKK suspected of carrying out Qadia camp blast

Security officials in Zakho said, on Tuesday, that a bomb explosion near a Yazidi Kurdish refugee camp in Duhok last night killed at least two and wounded three others.

The director of security in Zakho, Shawan Sindy, told Bas News, Tuesday, that last night's accident was an explosion inside the house of a security officer, killing two children and wounding three others.

He explained that the incident needs to be closely followed up, as all parties are investigating including security in Zakho, Dohuk and Simel, so that the perpetrators of the accident are identified.

"We suspect that the PKK did this, but after identifying these people, we will reveal the details to the people of Kurdistan in a statement," he said.

""The blast was caused by an improvised explosive device (IED). It is suspected that PKK did that because the bomber struck in front of a security guard's house, named Sheikh Hassan, and had already been threatened by PKK militants," a security official said in a statement.

Fortunately, Khalil Mahmoud, governor of Simel, told Bas News that the security forces have started their investigations, and the perpetrators will be revealed and punished, because "this is a terrorist act."

The statement said that wires were used in the blast, and up to 70 meters of wire is laid to the base of the camp, and it is done through a battery. As a result, four cabinets were destroyed and two children lost their lives, one nine years old and the other one year old, in addition to injuring three people and damaging a car.
