President Nechirvan Barzani received Mr. Ammar al-Hakim, the Leader of Iraq’s National Wisdom Movement on Wednesday.

Discussions covered a wide range of issues including the developments in Iraq, the outcome of the early parliamentary elections, the future of the political process in the country, the upcoming Iraqi federal government and the challenges ahead.

Both sides underlined the importance of preserving peace and political stability in the country, promoting democratic options, and empowering the political process in Iraq.

Mutual understanding among Iraqi factions was affirmed as essential to further serve the country, its future and resolving its pending issues.

President Nechirvan Barzani and Sayyid Ammar al-Hakim also discussed the parliamentary elections and the importance of settling any disputes and complaints regarding the outcome of the elections through the appropriate legal channels. It was stressed that the next government addresses and meets the demands and expectations of citizens.
