On the last leg of his visit to Baghdad, President Nechirvan Barzani met with the Secretary-General of Asa’ib Ahl al-Haq, Sheikh Qais Khazali. The meeting discussed the latest political and security developments in Iraq, the current challenges facing the country and the fight against terrorism.

Both sides stressed the need to support the new Iraqi government and Prime Minister Mohammed Shia’ al-Sudani to implement his government agenda, reaffirming the importance of cooperation among the Iraqi parties and communities in order to maintain political stability, security and peace, and to address the public demands and grievances.

The two leaders also discussed the repeated violations of Iraqi sovereignty, the targeting and bombing of the Kurdistan Region, and the latest developments in the wider region.
