In a recent development, the Erbil Police Directorate has announced the arrest of a policeman and his superior following a confrontation between the police and youth during the celebration of the Islamic Prophet's birthday (Mawlud) near the historic Erbil citadel.

The incident occurred during the Mawlud celebration at the Erbil citadel when a group of young individuals reportedly engaged in inappropriate behavior, harassing attendees. In response to the disturbance, the police were dispatched to handle the situation. However, the situation escalated when one of the policemen became involved in a confrontation with one of the youth.

Both the involved policeman and his superior have now been taken into custody by the Erbil Police Directorate.
