Halabja's Ninth Annual Pomegranate Exhibition Promotes Local Agriculture

Halabja, Kurdistan Region, November 2, 2023 - The city of Halabja is set to host its ninth annual Pomegranate Exhibition, a three-day event that aims to showcase and promote the region's renowned pomegranates and other agricultural products. Organized under the auspices of the Ministry of Agriculture and Water Resources of the Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) and the Department of Agriculture in Halabja city, the exhibition brings together over 700 farmers who will proudly display their produce.

The Kurdistan Regional Government, under its current cabinet, has placed a strong emphasis on advancing key industrial sectors, with a particular focus on farming and agriculture. This strategic priority serves to diversify revenue streams and strengthen the economic foundations of Kurdistan.

Commitment to Agricultural Development

A key pillar of this commitment is the development of infrastructure networks, including the construction of modern storage facilities to support local farmers. These efforts are integral to a comprehensive strategy aimed at establishing a resilient and sustainable farming and agriculture industry within the region.

Fostering Growth Through Initiatives

The government's dedication to the agricultural sector extends beyond infrastructure development. It encompasses a range of initiatives that address pressing challenges, including water scarcity. The government has actively implemented incentive programs and facilitated the export of various agricultural products, including potatoes, pomegranates, rice, and sumac. These efforts play a crucial role in promoting the growth of this vital sector.

Pomegranate Exhibition Highlights Local Produce

The annual Pomegranate Exhibition is a testament to the government's commitment to supporting local farmers and promoting their products. During the three-day event, attendees can explore the rich diversity of agricultural offerings from more than 700 farmers. The exhibition provides a platform for farmers to showcase their hard work and dedication to cultivating high-quality pomegranates and other crops.

This event serves as a testament to the dedication of the Kurdish government to boosting the agricultural industry, enhancing the livelihoods of local farmers, and strengthening the economic landscape of the Kurdistan Region.

As the Pomegranate Exhibition gets underway in Halabja, it symbolizes the region's continuous efforts to nurture and promote local agriculture, contribute to economic resilience, and ensure a sustainable future for the farming community in the Kurdistan Region.
