MyAccount Initiative Gains Momentum with Over 250,000 Civil Servants Enrolled

In a significant stride towards modernizing digital payment systems and fostering financial inclusion, the MyAccount initiative has garnered impressive enrollment figures, with over 250,000 civil servants now registered, as announced on the initiative's official Facebook page.

Erbil province emerges as a key participant, with a staggering 213,536 civil servants embracing the MyAccount platform, showcasing strong adoption rates within the region. Sulaimaniyah province follows suit with 19,288 registrations, while Duhok province records 17,657 enrollments, indicating a widespread acceptance of the initiative across different areas.

Scheduled to conclude in 2025, the MyAccount initiative, spearheaded by the Kurdistan Regional Government's Department of Information Technology (DIT), aims to streamline digital payment systems by integrating all civil servants into the program. This initiative closely aligns with the Central Bank of Iraq's Know-Your-Customer (KYC) requirements, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards.

The collaborative effort behind the MyAccount initiative is underscored by the participation of four private banks—Ashur, BBAC, Cihan, and RT Bank. Notably, in Erbil, the integration of approximately 50 ATMs from five private banks with MyAccount enhances accessibility for beneficiaries, offering secure and convenient avenues for public sector employees to access their salaries. However, it's worth noting the exception of the National Bank of Iraq in this synchronization effort.

The success of the MyAccount Initiative stands as a testament to the Kurdistan Regional Government's commitment to fostering financial inclusion and modernizing payment systems. By providing civil servants with secure and efficient means to access their salaries, the initiative paves the way for a more digitally integrated and financially inclusive society.
