In a recent statement to BasNews, General Babikir Zebari, former Chief of Staff of the Iraqi army, has issued a stark warning regarding ongoing drone attacks targeting key economic resources in the Kurdistan Region. Zebari emphasized that unless urgent action is taken to provide air defense systems, oil and gas fields could remain vulnerable to further assaults.

Zebari highlighted the critical need for enhanced defense capabilities to safeguard Kurdistan's gas and oil fields against the threat posed by militias aligned with foreign interests. He emphasized that these measures are essential to ensure the security of the Kurdistan Region's economic infrastructure.

"The Kurdistan Region must be equipped with anti-missile and defense systems to counter the looming danger posed by these militias," Zebari asserted.

The Khor Mor gas field, which plays a vital role in supplying national electricity across Iraq, was specifically underscored by Zebari as a potential target for future attacks, emphasizing the far-reaching consequences such assaults could have on both regional and national stability.

Zebari pointed out that the militias in question have demonstrated hostility towards the United States and its allies, specifically targeting Kurdistan's economic resources.
