According to the Statistic Office from the Directorate of Violence against Women in Ranya town where belongs to Sulaimnia province that last year around 30 women have lost their live by various means, and 94 criminals still at large.

In a phone call, Hassan Khoshnaw, the Director of the Violence against Women has told Warvin that the small crime has been lessen but big crime been raised compare to 2010.

Khoshnaw has underlined the reasons behind the rising of violence is having the unpermitted weapon.

"The total number of violence cases on 2011 has reached 352 cases, while 2010 was 286" Mr. Hassan explained.



He also gave the rundown of all of the cases



- 39 cases of burning, 16 out of 39 have lost their life, 23 other still alive

- 13 Suicide; 9 of them lost their life, 4 still alive.

- Murder 2 cases

- Killing attempt 4 cases

- Beating 150 cases

- Threatening 92 cases

- Fighting 4 cases

- Immoral behavior 17 cases

- Drug user 12 cases

- Elope 2 cases

- Strangle 1 case

- Getting married with Second wife 3 cases

- Kidnapping 1 case

- Misusing cell phone 3 cases

- Do not allowing to get married 2 cases

- Deceiving 5 cases

The total number is 352



- Despite of having all of those cases, last year they have conduct a field invistigation for more than 1500 other cases that 82 social problems has been addressed without file lawsuit in the court and 45 other cases been sent to shelters that 22 of them solved their problem.



On 2011; the report has revealed that 198 criminals have been apprehended, 94 other not been arrested

On the other side, the report of the statistic has pointed out that 200 cases have been addressed, 57 addressed in the court, 195 other issues are under the investigation and did not finalized as of yet.



Before this report, the Directorate of Violence against Women has announced the report of violence in all three provinces of Kurdistan Region as follow.

In Ranya town; 9 cases of killing; suicide 19 case, Burning 87, self-burning 37, sexual harassment 76, and 725 other cases were filing the complaint, the total number of the cases are 1673 cases.

The report also announced that 60 cases have been resolved out of 121 cases were settle in the shelters in Ranya, and 10 other cases out of 52 been tackled.

It is bear of mind that despite of having a high rate of violence in Ranya area, but there is no safe heaven to shelter the threaten women.
