KRG Natural Resources Ministry: oil deals “living example of transparency”
Ministry of Natural Resource of Kurdistan claims that the

oil deals it has signed with the foreign companies are “transparent” and it is an incentive for the other investors to operate in the region.
The statement comes after Kurdish MP Bayazid Hassan who is a member of oil and gas committee in Iraqi Parliament said in a recent interview with NRT channel that the KRG’s oil deals it has signed with the majors lack transparency.

“The weak point of KRG is the absence of transparency in oil question,” Hassan said in the interview on 8 July.

The Ministry has said that they have already published the oil deals on the KRG’s official website. The statement reads, “If this is not transparent, what is called transparency?”

The Ministry is appalled by the MP’s speech, saying that if KRG is not committed to its rules and the deals are not clear how come around 50 global oil firms operate in Kurdistan?

Kurdistan is a financially growing region and has signed many great oil deals with the majors to explore and produce in the region’s oil-field, but Baghdad regards any deals as illegal with going through central government.
