Baghdad and Erbil form higher committee to regulate granting commercial licenses
- The Iraqi Trade Minister said Thursday that he sent a formal request to the Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) to work according to the law of granting licenses to import and export goods at border crossing points of the region, while an official at the Trade Ministry in Kurdistan said that a joint committee from both sides was formed to organize the required procedures
Khairallah Hassan said: "Since the beginning of June the work according to the law of granting licenses for import and export of goods in all parts of Iraq, except the Kurdistan Region, and therefore the Ministry of Trade in the region was asked to comply with the law.

"A delegation from the Iraqi Trade Ministry is currently visiting the Kurdistan Region to discuss the issue, and we believe that the application of the law will be an important step to develop the trade sector in Iraq."

Director general of trade at the Trade Ministry Azizi Ibrahim said: "We are holding discussions with the delegation of the Iraqi Trade Ministry about the issue of the application of the law of import and export in the Kurdistan Region.

"A joint higher committee of the two ministries was formed to regulate the procedures for the commercial licenses and the committee will continue its work to reach an agreement in the interests of economic movement in Iraq and the Kurdistan region."
