Masrour Barzani receives The Australian Ambassador to Iraq
Jan 24 (Gulan Media) Masrour Barzani, the director of the Intelligence and Security Agency of the Kurdistan Region receives The Australian Ambassador to Iraq, Ms Lyndall Sachs, and Thomas Caroll, the first secretary of the Australian embassy in Iraq on Wednesday.

The Australian ambassador has expressed her delight and joy at Kurdistan's stable and secure situation, hoping that the other areas in Iraq have the same so that, like Kurdistan, economic opportunity and reconstruction will arise.

During the meeting, the tensions between the region and Baghdad have been discussed. In this respect, Barzani states that the tensions are results of the mentality that is ruling the country in Baghdad and the distrust among the different Iraqi groups. Defusing these tensions, he added, need creating an atmosphere in which all groups agree to freely live within Iraq. No one's agenda can be imposed on the country by means of threat and maltreatment of the authority.

About the latest developments in the region, he stresses the need of respecting the will of the peoples, developing democracy, and avoiding fanaticism and extremism. He states that the upcoming changes in the region should not deviate from their right path and should aim at bringing peace and happiness for the peoples.

Moreover, the two sides stressed improving bilateral relations. Ms Lyndall Sachs states that her country tends to have more active role in the market economy of Kurdistan, establishing relations between the universities, participating in different industrial sectors, and reconstructing the region.
