Fayli Kurds want seat in Iraqi, Kurdistan Parliament
A member of Kurdish Fraction in Iraqi parliament asks for parliament seat for Fayli Kurds in both Iraqi and Kurdistan parliament, insisting that it is necessary to allow Fayli Kurds as a minority group to be represented in both parliaments, media reported.

Ali Hussein Fayli, who belongs to Fayli minority group but currently represents Kurdish List in Iraqi parliament believe that the religious minority group of Faylis need a representative of their own in Iraqi as well as Kurdistan parliament.

Earlier Democratic Union of Fayli Kurds asked for parliamentary seat in Iraqi parliament to be considered in next parliamentary election in Iraq.

The Fayli Kurds are an important community within the wider Kurdish people. Faylis are part of the Kurdish population in Iraq and an integral part of the Kurdish nation. Numbers of Fayli Kurds in Iraq estimated as 2 million people in the region.

Faylis have been subject to state persecution during pervious Baath regime in Iraq. In the mid 1970s, Saddam Hussein expelled around 40,000 Faylis who had lived for generation near Baghdad and Khanaqin, alleging that they were Iranian nationals.
