Discussions in the meeting, which was also attended by David Hunt, the British Consul General in the Kurdistan Region, centered on the latest developments in Iraq and the development of relations between the Kurdistan Region and the UK.
Both sides agreed on the importance of resolving the outstanding issues between the Kurdistan Region and the Federal Government - particularly the oil and gas issue - on the basis of the Constitution.
Prime Minister Barzani stressed that the Kurdistan Region has fulfilled its constitutional obligations. He also remarked that the Federal Government should respect the constitutional rights of the Kurdistan Region, treating it appropriately as a federal entity.
