Iraq evacuates 429 citizens from Sudan in emergency response diplomacy effort

On Friday, the spokesperson for the Iraqi Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Dr. Ahmed Al-Sahaf, announced that the second evacuation flight for Iraqi expatriates in Sudan had arrived at Baghdad airport.

This successful evacuation effort was part of an emergency response diplomacy initiative that has managed to evacuate a total of 429 citizens from Sudan in two phases. Among those evacuated were members of Syrian and Sudanese communities.

The initiative to evacuate Iraqi citizens from Sudan was launched in response to the deteriorating security situation in the country. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has been working closely with the Iraqi embassy in Khartoum and other relevant parties to ensure the safety of Iraqi expatriates in Sudan and facilitate their return to Iraq.

The first phase of the evacuation effort took place on May 3rd, when a flight carrying 199 citizens arrived at Baghdad airport. The second phase, which was just completed, brought back an additional 230 citizens.

The success of this evacuation effort has been attributed to the emergency response diplomacy that was put in place to ensure the safe return of Iraqi expatriates from Sudan. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has expressed its appreciation to all parties involved in the initiative, including the Iraqi embassy in Khartoum and the Sudanese authorities, for their cooperation and support in making this effort a success.
