President Nechirvan Barzani today met with Japan’s Ambassador to Iraq, Mr. Futoshi Matsumoto.

The two engaged in a constructive discussion regarding the strengthening of Japan’s relations with Iraq and the Kurdistan Region, with a particular emphasis on economic and commercial cooperation. They recognized the importance of political and security stability in facilitating foreign and Japanese investment in Iraq, and emphasized the need to maintain such stability in order to create a favorable environment for private sector activity.

Furthermore, they explored the potential opportunities for Japanese companies to operate in Iraq and the Kurdistan Region. The meeting also addressed the budget, salaries, and financial entitlements of the Kurdistan Region.
