In a targeted operation conducted in the city of Sulaymaniyah, the Turkish National Intelligence Organization claimed to have "neutralized" a senior member of the Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK) on Monday. Erdinc Bolcal, known by the code name Ali Xebat, was reportedly a key figure responsible for providing ideological and military training to PKK militants for attacks against security forces.

According to security sources cited by state media Anadolu Agency, Bolcal was actively preparing for an operation in Kirkuk. Turkish authorities employ the term "neutralize" to signify actions such as killing or arresting in the context of their military operations against the PKK.

The prolonged conflict between Turkey and the PKK has significantly impacted daily life in the Kurdistan Region, with frequent clashes and bombings resulting in a considerable number of civilian casualties. This has led to the evacuation of numerous villages and the abandonment of mountain resorts and agricultural areas.

Turkish National Defense Minister Yasar Guler announced on Sunday that over 2,156 PKK fighters had been "neutralized" in the Kurdistan Region and Syria in the current year alone. The Turkish government also reported the loss of at least 12 soldiers, with six others injured in recent cross-border operations targeting PKK positions in the Kurdistan Region.

The ongoing conflict remains a source of tension in the region, with Turkey asserting its commitment to combating what it considers a terrorist organization. The situation continues to have a profound impact on the civilian population in the Kurdistan Region, with concerns raised about the humanitarian consequences of the conflict.
