President Masoud Barzani Meets with British Ambassador Stephen Hickey to Discuss Recent Attacks

In a recent meeting, President Masoud Barzani received the British Ambassador to Iraq, Stephen Hickey, along with the British Consul in Erbil. During the meeting, Ambassador Hickey renewed his condolences to President Barzani regarding the unjustified airstrikes on Erbil by the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps, which resulted in the loss of innocent civilian lives.

The British Ambassador expressed his country's official stance, firmly rejecting such actions that target innocent civilians. The meeting between the two parties also delved into the security and political developments in the region and Iraq. They specifically highlighted the work of the investigative committee formed by the Federal Prime Minister to uncover the facts surrounding the incident.

President Barzani, in turn, thanked the British Ambassador and the UK government for their support. He reiterated his concerns about the inhumane actions committed against the people of Kurdistan. President Barzani also commended the efforts of Iraqi Prime Minister Mustafa Al-Kadhimi in taking a stance and actively pursuing the serious investigation of this matter.

The bilateral relations between the Kurdistan Regional Government and the federal government, the security situation in the Nineveh Plains, Sinjar, and the significant attention given to the implementation of the Sinjar Agreement were additional focal points of the meeting. As diplomatic discussions continue, the international community closely monitors the aftermath of the recent attacks and the collaborative efforts to address the situation.
